How The Telephone Club began
We’ve been running Pendant Alert Systems Ltd. www.pendantalertsystems.com supplying medical pendants to thousands of older people across the UK. Every week we'd ring to check in, and we kept hearing the same heartbreaking story:
"Mum's safe now... but she's got no one to talk to."
With nearly a million older people often feeling isolated (Age UK), it's a crisis we couldn't ignore.
We started running little phone bingo and quiz groups just for our pendant customers. The change was instant – laughter, new mates, and grown children telling us how good it was to hear their mum or dad so full of life again.
We realised this joy shouldn't be limited to our pendant families. Every older person deserves proper laughs and friends every week – especially as two million over-50s could be affected by 2025/26 (Age UK projections).
So we created The Telephone Club – the same warm, friendly groups we started for our pendant customers, now open to everyone across Britain.
